Lawrence “Larry” Sax passed away on January 1, 2025 at the age of 95. Larry dedicated an extraordinary 66 years of his career to Beers, Hamerman, Cohen & Burger, PC, where his professionalism, integrity, and leadership set a standard of excellence. Larry’s dedication to the accounting profession was reflected in his 70-year membership in the Connecticut Society of CPAs, where he served on the Board of Governors for three years, as well as his nearly 70-year affiliation with the American Institute of Accountants. His contributions to the field were both enduring and impactful, leaving a legacy that will continue to guide future generations of professionals.
Lawrence A. Sax, CPA, is a client services and estates and trusts partner at BHCB. His principal areas of practice include estates, gifts, and trusts, as well as taxation. Lawrence has served on the Board of Governors of the CTCPA, chairing the MAP Trust Estate and Gift Tax, and has participated in the Bylaws and Professional Ethics Committees of the CTCPA. In the community, Lawrence has served as president of the Abraham Lodge #89 B’nai B’rith, as master secretary and treasurer of the Temple Lodge #127 AF & AM, and as district deputy of the Grand Lodge of Masons of the State of Connecticut. He is also a life member of the Mosaic Senior Living Men’s Club.

Anthony F. Santore, CPA, is a client services partner for both the firm’s audit and tax clients. He has expertise in various areas, including not-for-profit organizations, professional services, marketing, manufacturing, and distribution. Anthony is a member of the AICPA, the CTCPA, and the CTCPA Not-For-Profit Committee. He actively participates in the community, serving on the finance committee of Whitney Center Inc. and previously serving as board chair for Whitney Center Inc. He is also the treasurer of New Haven Country Club Inc. and served as the club’s president in 2016. Additionally, he is a member of the board of directors of the Fair Haven Cemetery Association Inc. Anthony graduated from Fairfield University and received a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from the University of New Haven.

Stephen B. Cohen, CPA, serves as a client services partner at BHCB, focusing on accounting, audit, and taxation. He has been involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations within the community. With over 30 years of public accounting experience, Stephen is a member of both the AICPA and the CTCPA. He is licensed in both Connecticut and New York. Outside of professional activities, Stephen enjoys spending time with his family, biking, playing golf, and kayaking.

Ed is a client services Partner of BHCB. As the previous Managing Partner of the firm for over 30 years, he uses the business management and leadership skills that he learned in that role to assist and advise his clients in business and personal planning. His principal areas of expertise are accounting and auditing, tax and litigation support services. He serves clients in a variety of industries including energy, retail, professional services, manufacturing, construction and non-profit. Ed has served as President of the Bridgeport Area CPAs, and as a committee member of the Relations with Secondary Schools of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. Ed is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA).
In the community, Ed has served as Treasurer and Vice President of Congregation B’nai Israel, as Treasurer and Vice President of the Mosaic Senior Living Men’s Club, as a Board Member of the Jewish Federation of the Greater Bridgeport Housing, as President of the Probus Club of Greater Bridgeport, as Assistant Treasurer of the National Probus Club, as Board Member of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and as Chairman of the 2013 URJ Biennial convention with over 6,000 attendees.

John is a tax Partner focusing on the areas of tax planning, compliance and financial reporting for small and mid-sized businesses, particularly in the areas of manufacturing, distribution and healthcare. He received a Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Hartford in 1995 and a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University in 1985. He has been with the firm since 1995 and became a Partner in 2008. John is a former Board Member of ManufactureCT (formerly the New Haven Manufacturers Association) and is the former Treasurer of that organization. He is also a former Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of East Haven Public Television. He is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA).

Eric Ravid, CPA, specializes in providing tax consulting and accounting services to individuals and small to medium-sized closely held businesses. He has extensive experience in estate and gift tax planning, as well as in handling merger and acquisition transactions. Eric graduated from Bentley College in 1983 and received his CPA certificate in Connecticut in 1987. He has been a partner at BHCB since 1993. Eric is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA). Throughout his career, he has served on various boards and committees of local civic and charitable organizations.

David is the former Managing Partner of BHCB, having joined the firm in 1979. Over his 45 years, he has developed extensive experience in tax, accounting, and business services, servicing clients in various industries including healthcare, professional services, real estate, senior assisted living, and higher education. David is a member of the AICPA and the CTCPA and has previously served on the CTCPA State Taxation Committee. He has served in numerous community roles, including as a two-term past President of the Quinnipiack Club, Chairman of the Finance Committee at Racebrook Country Club, Treasurer of American Legion Baseball Post 127, and various other volunteer positions. He resides in Shelton, CT with his wife Lisa and has two children. David enjoys golfing, swimming, and playing pickleball.
